Martha Naymik and her dog Bella joined others from the Meetup group Off Leash Walk. One of the motivations to participate was because, “the gardens aren’t normally open to dog owners,” said Naymik.
Boy Scout Webelo Pack #319, La Mesa, was on hand to volunteer. Webelo Jack Johnson liked a fat chihuahua dressed like an elf. The Webelos pointed out where to start and the designated potty locations for the dogs among other jobs. SDSU students handed out event t-shirts and totes with dog gifts such as Kong toys.
ACES President Ms. Jackie Horton-Toft saw the gardens as a refreshing, different site for the walk. Horton-Toft said the Barkitecture event they host at Parkway Plaza Mall that has the dog house creations competing for the top design will be coming up in 2015.
The event provided pictures with Santa, for dog lovers of all types.
