The time is nearing, again for the annual Christmas In The Village Celebration in La Mesa’s charming downtown.

This year, the La Mesa Village Merchants Association will hold the festive holiday celebration on Friday, Dec. 14 and Saturday, Dec. 15 from 5:00-10:00 p.m.

Like previous years, this family event, which transforms La Mesa Boulevard into a Victorian Wonderland, will feature strolling minstrels, carolers dressed in Victorian attire and street entertainers.
There will also be the traditional holiday parade where Santa Claus, his elves and reindeer will grace the boulevard both nights beginning at 5:00 p.m.

Kids of all ages are welcome to come greet Santa and bring him their wish list and share in the good cheer.
Live music will be featured on a number of stages, while a horse- drawn carriage and bonfires will fill the boulevard, which will be decked out in holiday lights.  There will also be carnival rides, ponies, puppet shows, food and commercial vendors.  This will be a festival that all ages can enjoy.

All that makes downtown La Mesa a unique alternative shopping experience, is geared for the event.
The specialty shops, boutiques, antique shops, cafes, restaurants, used bookstore, salons and galleries that line the boulevard will remain open late both nights for the festivities.

The village offers a wonderful and eclectically inspired atmosphere.  La Mesa store- owners are excited about this year’s event.

To illustrate, Lisa Caballero of Sara’s Selections Boutique said that she is looking forward to all of the festivities. Her trendy boutique will feature outside tables, gift certificates and special sale items that will inspire fashionable gift giving.

Brenda Mason of San Pasqual Winery will be welcoming visitors with free samples of their delectable spiced wine. Come in and meet Brenda and Darrel Grant who excitedly announced “Soon, San Pasqual Winery will be moving from Pacific Beach to Center Dr. in La Mesa, making it the very first winery in La Mesa”.  Their storefront however will continue to be on La Mesa Blvd.
Stroll into Centifonti’s for some homemade chocolate delights or Italian gelato.

If you have a taste for something truly unique and European, come into All Things Bright And British for some Turkish delight, specialty British imports, gifts and some figgy pudding.
At Stylz Salon, owner Gaetana Rosselli and her wonderful team of stylists excitedly said “We will be happy to make you look glamorous for the season’s upcoming parties”.

Check out our friends at Act II resale boutique, where many cool and trendy duds can be found to suit even the most budget-conscious amongst us.
The newly opened Royal Candy Castle will guarantee to wow tikes and all of us kids-at-heart with sweets that will rival even Willy Wonka.

All in all, the merchants will be offering an inviting and unique shopping experience, and are excited to be welcoming new visitors and holiday shoppers to La Mesa’s village area.

The wonderful shops and atmosphere are reminiscent of days gone by and will be a great alternative and welcomed relief to the crowded malls.

The La Mesa Village Merchants Association has once again gone all out to bestow this gift to our community.
