But more important, the Downtown El Cajon Business Partners, along with the city of El Cajon, kicked off its first inaugural Holiday Lights on Main to celebrate Small Business Saturday, giving people plenty to do as they strolled through downtown’s small businesses on Nov. 28.

But more important, the Downtown El Cajon Business Partners, along with the city of El Cajon, kicked off its first inaugural Holiday Lights on Main to celebrate Small Business Saturday, giving people plenty to do as they strolled through downtown’s small businesses on Nov. 28.
It was a full day of shopping and fun for the family and many local businesses brought in local artists to share their storefronts and allow the public to see the many talents beyond Main Street, and to encourage people to shop locally at El Cajon’s small businesses. Many shops held specials for the day and are continuing specials, including guest artists’ work displayed in their stores.
Throughout the day, it is estimated that more than 5,000 people attended the event, making their way up and down Main Street and to the lighting of El Cajon’s Christmas tree on the corner of Magnolia and Main. Mayor Bill Wells, along with Santa, rode up in El Cajon’s finest fire engine to speak to the crowd and countdown the lighting of the tree as children sang Christmas tunes, officially launching the city for the holiday season.
