After a long, hot summer, September is bringing more than just nice weather in Downtown El Cajon. The highly anticipated Alley Cat Art Fest is making its way to Main Street, with several new offerings you won’t want to miss. Plus, check out this month’s business spotlight, Rob’s Brewpoint, bringing people together through coffee and community!
Alley Cat Art Fest
El Cajon’s celebration of local arts and culture is getting even bigger! Alley Cat Art Fest brings together two of Downtown El Cajon’s signature creative events, Artivál and the beloved Alley Cat Art Walk, for one unified festival where creativity is around every corner. Happening Saturday, Sept. 12 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., the free, open-air event will fill Downtown El Cajon with local artists, public art, live music, food and drinks. A special highlight of this year’s festival will be the unveiling of the newly restored Birds of Paradise mural by the Support Downtown El Cajon Mural Program. The longtime landmark celebrates the community’s rich history, scenic landscapes, diverse cultures and creative spirit, making its restoration a meaningful addition to this year’s festival and its celebration of public art in Downtown El Cajon.
Alley Cat Art Fest will span across several different areas of Downtown El Cajon, giving guests plenty to explore throughout the day. Main Street will serve as the heart of the festival, with local artists, vendors and live entertainment, while additional performances will take place at Centennial Plaza, the Olaf Wieghorst Museum stage, and smaller vignette stages along Main Street at Magnolia Ave. and Claydell Ave. Once you’re ready to cool off with a cold drink, beer and wine areas can be found at the East County Arts Association, Sophie’s Gallery, and Olaf Museum!
Alley Cat Art Fest activities will span across several different areas of Downtown El Cajon. Guests can stroll down Main Street where the main stage and lineup of artists are located while browsing through the talented vendors. If you’re looking for a great place to relax between shopping, take a break on the Prescott Promenade without being too far from the action. You also won’t want to miss the community stage which is over at the Centennial Plaza! Once you’re ready to cool off with a cold drink, beer and wine areas can be found at the East County Arts Association, Sophie’s Gallery, and Olaf Museum!
Business Spotlight: Rob’s Brewpoint
This September’s business spotlight is none other than Rob’s Brewpoint, a community focused coffee destination that is brewing up rich flavor in every cup. What started as a humble coffee cart is now a community favorite where people come for the coffee and stay for the conversation. Pull up a chair and try everything from their house-made syrups to their uniquely crafted Charcoal Latte. Rob’s Brewpoint is open daily from 7am to 3pm and invites all to come by, grab a cup, and say hi!
