The City of El Cajon is holding its “Dog Days of Summer” event on July 13 from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. at the Heartland Fire and Rescue located at 100 Lexington Ave. in El Cajon. This community event is free with a mix of activities, entertainment, and fun.

“Dog Days of Summer is set to be an amazing event for our community. We’re especially excited to have Gabriel Feitosa on board this year. His incredible talent will add a vibrant and unique element to the day. We’re also thrilled to welcome back Camp Run a Mutt for the second year in a row. They’ve washed hundreds of dogs in the past, and their free dog wash service is always a hit. It’s a fantastic opportunity for families to come together on a fun Saturday morning and enjoy all the fun activities we have planned,” said Heartland Fire & Rescue Captain Travis Timmons in a press release.

“Dog Days of Summer” event include:
• Visit the Fire Station & Meet the Firefighters: Explore the fire station, engage with El Cajon’s heroes, and snap photos in fire trucks and engines.
• Learn About Yara, the Therapy Dog: Learn about the important work of Yara, California’s first certified therapy dog for firefighters, as she works her unique skills.
• Grooming by Gabriel Feitosa: Meet renowned celebrity dog groomer Gabriel Feitosa and the dogs he transformed from San Diego Humane Society with his artistic dye jobs. These beautifully groomed dogs will be available for adoption, adding an exciting twist to the event.
• Free Microchips for Dogs: San Diego Humane Society will offer free microchipping services for dogs. Microchips are a permanent form of identification, should your dog ever become lost.
• Free Dog Washes: Courtesy of Camp Run a Mutt in El Cajon, dogs can enjoy complimentary washes to keep them cool and fresh.
