Brackets for the 2025 San Diego Section girls flag football playoffs have been set and it’s now a race to claim five divisional championship titles for the 56 teams that gained entry.

Eight of the 10 Grossmont Conference teams made the cut, including two in the elite Division I tier (No. 4 Grossmont, No. 8 Steele Canyon), one in the Division II bracket (No. 4 Granite Hills), one in the Division III bracket (No. 2 Helix), two in the Division IV tier (No. 1 El Capitan, No. 6 Santana) and two in the Division V tier (No. 6 West Hills, No. 7 Valhalla).

Steele Canyon (18-4 overall) qualified as the Grossmont Hills League champion (7-1 in league) while El Capitan (13-6) qualified as the Grossmont Valley League champion (5-1 in league). The remaining teams qualified on an at-large basis based on section rankings.

It’s been a very competitive season. Actually, it’s been nothing short of a wow factor for so many first-year programs.

Steele Canyon’s lone league loss was 19-7 to Granite Hills. The Lady Cougars handed Grossmont two league losses (18-0 and 26-7). Granite Hills lost twice to Grossmont (26-18 and 32-27) and once to Steele Canyon (26-13).

El Capitan’s lone league loss was 26-24 to West Hills. Valhalla lost twice to El Capitan (22-12 and 16-13).

El Cajon Valley (7-10) and Monte Vista (1-14) did not qualify for postseason play.

All division championship games will be contested Saturday, Nov. 8, at Escondido High School.

Playoff games were scheduled to start Tuesday, Oct. 28 and Wednesday, Oct. 29. Division I kicks off Saturday, Nov. 1.

The eight-team Division I bracket will include three rounds, including a semifinal round on Wednesday, Nov. 5. Semifinals in Division II and Division IV are slated for Tuesday, Nov. 4. Semifinals in Division III and Division V will be played on Nov. 5.

Quarterfinals in all divisions are set for Saturday, Nov. 1
