In observance of National Preparedness Month, the City of La Mesa, in collaboration with the City’s Community Relations and Veterans Commission, Heartland Fire & Rescue, and the County of San Diego Office of Emergency Services, is hosting the upcoming Livable La Mesa Community Conversation. This event aims to educate La Mesa residents on creating a ‘personal disaster plan’ and effectively assisting friends and family with disabilities or unique access needs during emergencies.
“Presentations and educational opportunities like this are very important,” said Rich Gann, Community Relations and Veterans Commission chair, in a press release. “Being able to host the County of San Diego and Heartland Fire here in La Mesa will ensure that all our residents are prepared in case an emergency hits.”
Barbara Ayers, Senior Emergency Services Coordinator for the San Diego County Office of Emergency Services will present various disasters scenarios that may strike East County and detail how each household can prepare for them.
The forum takes place on Oct. 25, at 6 p.m., at 8450 La Mesa Blvd.
Limited parking will be available at the Adult Enrichment Center Parking Lot located off University Avenue or at Kuhlken Field located at 4900 Memorial Drive.
All San Diego County residents and their families are invited to participate in this educational opportunity.
