Brush fire threatens Lakeside

Approximately 4.5 acres burned in a Lakeside brush fire that started in the San Diego riverbed near Willow Avenue and Highway 67 around 4 p.m. By 6:30 p.m., forward progression of the fire had stopped and Lakeside Fire Protection District responders were working to contain the area.

 

San Diego County Sheriff deputies and Lakeside Fire Department responders stood by a locked gate until they could obtain access to an Aug. 31 brush fire in Lakeside.

 

Traffic backed up after some Lakeside residents near and around Moreno Avenue were sent an emergency evacuation alert notifying them of a brush fire that broke out near Willow road and Highway 67 on Aug. 31.

 

Horse owners near Moreno Avenue gathered together for safety near the corner of Willow Road and Highway 67 after a brush fire broke out around 4 p.m. on Aug. 31.

Firefighters were able to stop the fire’s forward progress around 6:30 p.m. and worked to contain it in the immediate area.
