Tickets are now on sale for the Santee Brews & Bites Festival Fundraiser at Town Center Community Park East on Saturday, Oct. 21 from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. This annual fundraising event supports Santee’s people, parks, and programs. Funds raised will benefit the Santee Teen Center, park improvement projects, and Recreation Scholarship Program which provides financial assistance to qualifying Santee residents who take part in City recreation programs.
City of Santee Special Events Supervisor Becky Lowndes said this is the 13th event that raises funds for the Santee Parks & Recreation department, for the city’s people, parks, and programs.
The money raised goes right back into community that helps our youth programs, community center, explicit senior programs and field trips. It also goes to a voucher-incentive program, a financial assistance program for qualifying residents to offset recreation costs so they can participate,” she said. “It also goes into minor park improvements. Lately, we are doing some pickleball court resurfacing, which is really popular. But all this goes right back into the community.”
Lowndes said this is its largest and most vital fundraiser of the year. She said the ticket price gives full access to more than 40 vendors either local to Santee, East County, or commercial.
“Some of the vendors we are excited to partner with are Chick-fil-A of Santee, Black Angus, Junction 52, Riverwalk Grill, Del’s Hideout, Obrien’s Pub, 3 Punk Ales, Three Frogs Beer Company, Deano’s Pub” she said, along with some local businesses. “This is a fun evening out. We have live music with Never 2 L8, a high-energy 80s band with an awesome lead female singer. We have a silent auction going on. So, it is a great opportunity for you to get out with some friends and family for a child-free evening of entertainment. And, also to give back to the future of Santee’s recreational activities.”
