A gunman who was charged with committing commercial robberies, home invasions, and car thefts in East County within a few hours time has been sentenced to 26 years in state prison.

Kevin Oshea Knight, 44, of Santee, will have to serve 85 percent of the 26-year term before he can be paroled.

Knight pleaded guilty to committing a home invasion robbery in Spring Valley on April 8, 2014 and using a firearm. He also pleaded guilty to residential burglary of an El Cajon man by entering a door at gunpoint and demanded car keys from the victim.

As part of the sentence, El Cajon Superior Court Judge Daniel Goldstein imposed 10 years consecutively for the use of a gun and five years for Knight having a burglary conviction. He was fined $8,133 and given credit for 427 days spent in jail on April 15.

Sixteen other charges of robbery, auto theft, carjacking, burglary, possession of illegal drugs and unlawful drug paraphernalia were dismissed. They recovered four stolen vehicles that Knight had abandoned during the spree.

El Cajon man pleaded guilty in elderly robbery

Lucas Churchill Holmes, 20, of El Cajon, pleaded guilty April 29 to robbery of a 74-year-old man who had placed an advertisement on Craigslist.

Holmes faces up to six years in prison when he is sentenced on May 28, said Deputy District Attorney Scott Pirrello. Holmes who then tasered him, tied him up, and robbed him on April 8 awakened the victim at 1:15 a.m. in his College area home.

San Diego Superior Court Judge Michael Groch accepted the guilty plea and dismissed charges of identity theft, and residential burglary. Pirrello said Holmes used the victim’s ATM card after taking it from him.

Holmes remains in jail on $200,000 bail.
