After the departure of Alvarado Hospital Medical Center’s former CEO Robin Gomez, Alvarado hired Kenneth D. McFarland as its new CEO. McFarland began working with Alvarado on April 18 with 24 years of healthcare leadership experience.

and families first,” stated McFarland in a press release. “I feel privileged to be here, and I’m eager to add to Alvarado Hospital’s legacy and to help it realize its full healthcare potential for the future.”
McFarland served as CEO of 400-bed Fountain Valley Regional Hospital and Medical Center in Orange County, California. Earlier in his career, he held various senior leadership roles with Mission Hospital, in South Orange County.
While there, he served as President and CEO for five years, and held COO and CFO responsibilities since 1998. McFarland began his career with Ernst & Young, Los Angeles.
McFarland holds a Master of Business Administration with a specialization in Finance and Economics from the University of California, Irvine and a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and Finance from California Polytechnic University in Pomona, California.
