The West Hills High School football team is looking for success for the new season led by an experienced group of returners.
“We return 15 starters from last year’s team and have high expectations for 2026,” Wolf Pack head coach Casey Ash said.
Chalk it up to a 1-0 start after last Friday’s 28-13 season opening non-league win over the visiting Chula Vista Spartans.
Senior quarterback Evin Dill ran for 104 yards and scored one touchdowns and passed for 99 yards while completed three touchdown passes — two of which were caught by junior Chuck Rosolino (three catches, 43 yards). Junior Rene Uglade also threw a 28-yard TD to senior Caden Johnson on a sweep pass. Senior E.J. Lee-Fields (two catches, nine yards) also caught a TD pass.
“Offensively, we were able to control the line of scrimmage because of the strong play of our offensive line.,” Ash said. “Defensively, we got stronger as the game went on and held Chula Vista under 50 yards rushing.”
Senior Scott Miller had one interception for seven yards while junior Lucas Sauls and senior Seth Creech each recorded sacks.
Junior Isaiah Orta keyed Chula Vista with 216 passing yards and two touchdowns — one each to seniors Myshawn Mitchell (one catch, 12 yards) and senior Gabriel Ruiz (four catches, 125 yards). The Spartans’ run game was limited to 36 yards on 21 carries.
West Hills next travels to Bonita Vista this Friday for another non-league matchup. The Barons are coming off a 28-0 loss at Eastlake.
