Santee’s ‘Love Your Heart’ campaign

In recognition of American Heart Month, the City of Santee is participating in the nation-wide Love Your Heart campaign. Love Your Heart occurs annually, in which organizations participate by providing free blood pressure screenings to their communities. Take charge of your heart health and attend the Love Your Heart event, happening Feb. 22, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Santee City Hall Building 8A (10601 Magnolia Avenue, Santee).

Heart disease is one of the leading causes of death for Americans and most ethnic groups living in the United States. It’s important for everyone to know their numbers, which include their blood pressure, cholesterol, body mass index, and blood sugar. A simple way to be proactive about heart health is getting a blood pressure screening.

Santee Fire Department personnel will be conducting blood pressure screening for Santee’s Love Your Heart event participants. In addition to receiving information on what healthy numbers are, there will be in-formation for attendees on ways to be active, eat healthy, and reduce stress. Resources on quit¬ting smoking and reducing al¬cohol consumption will also be offered.
