The San Diego Stars have announced tryout dates for its 2019 summer collegiate league season. All positions are open, with the Stars seeking current high school seniors, college-level players and former minor league and Independent ball professionals.
The Stars are coming off one of their best seasons in nearly 40 years of play, including a medal at the National Baseball Congress World Series. They finished fifth in the nation.
The Stars also posted a franchise record 18-game winning streak to start the summer under owner/manager Mickey Deutschman.
The Stars compete in the Western Baseball Association, a circuit of 19 ballclubs throughout Southern California. The league is so highly regarded, it receives more NBC World Series berths than any other league in Southern California.
The tryouts are slated for Sat., May 11 and Sun., May 19. Signups are at 9 a.m., then be ready to play at 10 a.m., so bring your spikes, glove, et al.
