Special programs in late August early September:

Aug. 26 – 3 p.m. Back to School Fun

Come enjoy our third annual back to school event for the kids. There will be a bilingual story time, crafts, fun and refreshments for kids going into grades K-5. Kids will receive school supplies before school starts and some may get a backpack, while supplies last.

Aug. 27 – 2 p.m. Creativity Project with Mona Mills – Demonstration (Oil Painting the Human Head)

The Creativity Project will offer free 90-minute classes or demonstrations with local artist Mona Mills. All the classes and demonstrations will be exciting, professional, educational and productive. Printed instructions as well as any necessary materials will be provided. You can paint along with watercolors. Please RSVP and bring your watercolor kit if possible.

Aug. 31– 4 p.m. Ice Cream Social/Book Sale

We close the Summer Reading Program with an Ice Cream Social and a Book Sale by the Lakeside Friends of the Library.

Sept. 1 – 3:30 p.m. S.T.E.A.M Explorers

Come after school on the first and third Thursdays for fun Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math experiments and crafts. We will be learning new and fun things for kids in grades K-5.

Sept. 3 – 2 p.m. Creativity Project with Mona Mills: Drawing the Human Head, profile and three-quarters view.

The Creativity Project offers free 90-minute classes or demonstrations. All the classes and demonstrations will be exciting, professional, educational and productive. Printed instructions as well as any necessary materials will be provided. Please RSVP.

Sept. 9 – 1 p.m. DMV Test Preparation Class

Lakeside Library is offering classes to help prepare for the Department of Motor Vehicles written test. The class is free and will cover information from the California Driver Handbook, videos and written tests with review.

Sept. 10 – 2 p.m. Creativity Project with Mona Mills – Demonstration (Oil Painting the Human Head/three quarter view)

The Creativity Project offers free 90-minute classes or demonstrations. All the classes and demonstrations will be exciting, professional, educational and productive. Printed instructions as well as any necessary materials will be provided. This time Mona demonstrates how to draw the human head, three-quarters view in oil. You can paint along with watercolors. Please RSVP and bring your watercolor kit if possible.

Sept. 14 – 3 p.m. Batman vs. Superman Day

Come and celebrate Batman vs. Superman day at the library. Come dressed as your favorite superhero. Enjoy fun games, crafts and refreshments. For all ages.

Sept. 15 – 6:30 p.m. Creativity Project: Discussion and Art Opening

Are you an artist/writer? Interested in what makes your creativity open up? Tonight we have an art opening with local artists showing their work during the month of September. Mona Mills moderates a round table discussion on the creative process.
