Lakeside man on home detention and three years probation for sexting

Elias Morales II, 21, a former substitute school custodian, was placed on 180 days of home detention with electronic monitoring on conditions of three years probation for texting a 14-year-old girl with the intent to commit a sex act.

Morales, of Lakeside, was given credit for four days in jail and ordered to register as a sex offender by El Cajon Superior Court Judge Daniel Goldstein on Aug. 25. He was ordered to stay away from schools.

Morales, who worked for the Grossmont Union High School District, was arrested by sheriff’s deputies on Feb. 19 after he sent inappropriate texts to a 14-year-old girl at El Capitan High School. Deputies posed as the girl online and he went to meet her with condoms and marijuana, said prosecutor Elizabeth Renner.

Renner, who recommended a 180-day jail term, said Morales attempted to meet a second girl and sent sexually explicit texts to her. Morales pleaded guilty to contacting a minor with the intent to commit a sex act and attempted possession of harmful manner.

Jurors enter fifth day of deliberations of former Dehesa Elementary school teacher

Jurors will enter their 5th day of deliberations Thursday, Sept. 10 in the month-long trial of a former Dehesa Elementary School teacher who is accused of fondling eight girls in his classroom in 2003-2006.

The nine women, three-man jury began deliberations Sept. 1 in the case of Robert Noel Anderson, 59, and got a long Labor Day weekend break as they had other commitments on Sept. 8 and 9. The trial has lasted longer than its earlier estimate.

Half the jury has asked Judge Lantz Lewis to send letters to their employers about their continued participation, which is standard procedure. They have reheard the testimony of several prosecution witnesses and interviews with sheriff’s detectives. A note suggested they might not reach a verdict on some counts.

Anderson denied all the charges of the eight women, two of whom did not report the alleged misconduct for eight years until Anderson was arrested and charged on Sept. 11, 2014. He remains in jail on $800,000 bail.
