Students may explore careers through Mission Trails

There is a new educational program for teens interested in nature, environment and the interconnectedness of the world around them with Mission Trails Regional Park Foundation new ECO Ambassadors program.

Looking for 20 high school students, the MTRP Visitor Center is the ambassador’s learning hub, learning about Mission Trails, building community around environmental stewardship, and explore careers and fields related to nature conversation.

There is an application process through which the 20 cohort members will be selected.

Applications are due on February 28 and accepted candidates will be notified on March 10. The program will take place from Sunday, April 2, through June 4, 2023, and participants will earn an Eco Ambassador certificate at the conclusion of the program. The Eco Ambassadors program is free and open to high school students in San Diego County.
Jennifer Morrissey, Executive Director of the MTRP Foundation said in a press release, “We’re thrilled to offer this enriching educational programming to local teens who will have the opportunity to use the park as their living laboratory. Our educators and subject matter experts will inspire teens to consider the many facets of Mission Trails including its wildlife, plants, and habitats, and the importance of environmental stewardship.”
