Santana High School’s Colton Weed finished his Sultan career as a four-year first-team all-league swimmer.
He was league champion in all four events he swam this year at the league finals, winning the 100-yard butterfly, 100-yard freestyle, 200-yard medley relay and 200-yard freestyle relay.
He earned honors as the 2024 and 2025 Grossmont Valley League Male Swimmer of the Year.
He was Santana’s 2025 varsity captain and team MVP.
He was an integral part of Santana High School’s undefeated Grossmont Valley League championship team from 2022-25.
He placed 25th in the 100 butterfly, and 30th in the 100 freestyle at the San Diego Section finals.
His most impressive swim of the season was turning in a sub-50 second time (49.85) in the 100 freestyle at the Ben Hedberg Granite Hills Invitational, according to SHS swim ciach Jeni McDaniel.
He maintained a 4.602 grade-point average during the swim season.
He will be attending San Diego State University in the fall and will be studying mechanical engineering while playing for SDSU’s club water polo team.
Weed was a three-year varsity letter-winner on Santana’s boys water polo team and a two-year starter.
Both teams he started on finished among the top five in the entire county and both teams made it to the state regional playoff semifinals.
He logged 95 goals, 53 assists and 70 steals during his Sultan water polo career and was honorable mention all-league his junior and senior seasons.
“Colton was an excellent attacker for us and a very solid player, very consistent and reliable in his play,” Santana coach Rod Bowen said. “A player that I am very proud of.”
