Sip, listen & dine your way through Downtown El Cajon

October is a great time to explore everything Downtown El Cajon has to offer, from locally crafted coffee and live music to delicious dining destinations. With International Coffee Day and International Music Day on the calendar this month, there are plenty of ways to celebrate while discovering some of the neighborhood’s local favorites.

Celebrate International Coffee Day
There’s no better way to celebrate International Coffee Day than by grabbing a cup from one of Downtown El Cajon’s local coffee spots. Whether you’re looking for a classic brew, something sweet or a creative coffee experience, there are plenty of places to sip your way through the neighborhood.

Start your coffee crawl at Rob’s Brewpoint, a community-focused coffee destination that began as a small coffee cart before becoming a permanent Main Street cafe. Today, the shop focuses on quality beans, house-made syrups and thoughtfully crafted coffee.

For something more unique, stop by Sultan Baklava for coffee alongside an assortment of traditional Turkish desserts. The Main Street destination serves Turkish-inspired sweets, cakes, dishes and more, making it an easy spot to turn your coffee break into a full meal.

You can also dive into a creative coffee experience at The Diver’s Cup, located inside the East County Art Association gallery on Main Street. Inspired by the underwater world and the artistry behind coffee, the cafe invites guests to slow down, connect and enjoy thoughtfully crafted drinks.

Celebrate International Music Day
Music is another big part of the Downtown El Cajon experience, and there are plenty of opportunities to catch a show this fall!

The Magnolia continues to bring a diverse lineup of live entertainment to Downtown El Cajon. The venue’s upcoming calendar features artists and performers across a variety of genres, including Prince Again on October 3, The Rush Tribute Project on Oct. 10, Tumua Das’ How Tour on Oct. 17 and Iron & Wine on Oct. 20, and more.

For a more laid-back evening, Por Favor offers a chance to enjoy traditional Mexican food and drinks in a lively cantina setting. And you might even catch live music while you’re there! With its welcoming atmosphere, outdoor patios and authentic menu, it’s a great place to grab dinner, enjoy a drink and settle in for the evening.

Business Spotlight: Testo Pepesto

This month’s business spotlight is Testo Pepesto, a local Italian restaurant serving up a wide range of flavors on Main Street. The restaurant offers dine-in favorites as well as convenient pickup and delivery options, making it easy to enjoy a meal whether you’re dining downtown or taking it home.

With a menu focused on flavorful Italian dishes and a welcoming, neighborhood atmosphere, Testo Pepesto is another example of the local businesses that make Downtown El Cajon such a special place to explore.

From coffee and music to local dining, there’s always something new to discover in Downtown El Cajon. This October, experience a few of the neighborhood’s local favorites for yourself!
