Just in time for the Fourth of July weekend, the Sweetwater Reservoir is expanding its Shoreline Fishing Program to include Fridays for the summer. The Sweetwater Authority is offering San Diego residents to celebrate the holiday from Friday to Monday at both the Sweetwater and Loveland reservoirs for the long Independence day weekend.

After that, the Sweetwater Reservoir will be open from Friday through Sunday for soaking up the sun, fishing, hiking and bird watching. Loveland is open daily. Both reservoirs have a healthy population of bass, catfish, bullhead, bluegill, perch, rock bass and more. The lands surround the reservoirs include multiple trails for public use.

“Our Fishing Program provides cost-effective, fun and educational recreational opportunities for San Diego County residents of all ages,” said Authority Board Chair Hector Martinez in a press release. “We’re pleased to expand this program to include Fridays and welcome residents to enjoy the beauty of our water and the environment this Independence Day weekend.”
