The San Diego East County Chamber of Commerce has accepted the resignation of CEO Eric J. Lund, effective Jan. 11, 2019, after five years with the organization. Lund has accepted an opportunity with another organization.
“It has been my honor to serve the local communities, the members, the Chamber Board and our team to improve our region and businesses and I am so appreciative of their strong support throughout my time with the chamber,” said Lund.
“Eric will be missed by our board, staff and members,” said Board Chair Stacy Mackey. “Yet through his leadership, he is leaving the organization in a very strong position. We are blessed with the confidence that we have an effective process in place to fill this key position. In the interim the Chamber’s Office and Membership Development Manager, Jonda Cvek, with the support of the Board Chair will help ensure a smooth transition and will oversee staff, programs and projects to ensure they are supported and continue successfully.”
Some of the business programs started or supported by Lund during his tenure include the East County Homeless Task Force, Refer East County, Shop East County, East County Leadership and San Diego County Tourism Marketing.
“The Chamber’s vision is to provide leadership to improve business competitiveness,” Mackey said. “The Board and I know that during Eric’s five-year term he played a key role in realizing that vision. When he took the helm, we had gone through a very difficult recession and have since emerged with more members and a stable financial footing, as well as overcome challenges to rebuild the organization into a premiere operation that benefits the members and community. Eric has also established a high level of integrity, ethics and transparency and has helped to regain the confidence of the business community.”
The Chamber Board has established a Search Committee to identify the next CEO to lead the Chamber into the next stage of development so as to continue to be a strong voice for the East County Region’s business community.
