A single hand of Face Up Pai Gow Poker turned into a life-changing moment for one Lucky Club member at Sycuan Casino Resort, marking the casino’s first six-figure table-game jackpot of the year.
On Jan. 14, the anonymous player won $127,366.24 after being dealt a rare seven-card straight flush, triggering a 100 percent payout of the game’s progressive jackpot. The win currently ranks as Sycuan’s largest table-game jackpot of 2026 and underscores how quickly progressive prizes can grow on the casino floor.
According to Michael Conery, vice president of table games and poker operations at Sycuan Casino Resort, six-figure table-game wins occur about every other month, though jackpots are unpredictable and driven entirely by player participation rather than a set schedule.
“Progressive jackpots increase as more guests place qualifying side bets, creating momentum that builds until a top-ranking hand hits.”
Face Up Pai Gow Poker’s progressive jackpot is fueled by an optional $2 side bet placed before the cards are dealt. While several high-ranking hands qualify for payouts, a seven-card straight flush represents the highest tier, awarding the entire progressive jackpot in one payout, as happened on Jan. 14.
The winning hand was dealt at a standard table, part of a broader lineup of table games across the casino that offer progressive jackpot opportunities.
In addition to Face Up Pai Gow Poker, Sycuan features multiple table-game progressives, including jackpots on Three Card Poker and Ultimate Texas Hold’em, where the current top prize exceeds $263,000. Blackjack players can also participate in Bonus Spin Extreme, with a jackpot currently climbing past $416,000, he said.
Among those options, Face Up Pai Gow Poker remains one of the casino’s most popular progressive table games. Conery noted that its steady pace, social play style, and jackpot potential continue to attract players, contributing to some of the largest table-game payouts on the property.
While Sycuan tracks jackpot frequency and aggregate payout data internally, the casino does not release detailed or real-time figures publicly in order to protect guest privacy. When major jackpots occur, wins are typically announced through Sycuan’s social media channels, followed by a press release if the guest chooses to share the moment publicly.
Alongside high-profile wins, Sycuan emphasizes responsible gaming as a core part of its operations. The casino maintains Responsible Gaming Ambassadors on property 24 hours a day to assist guests when needed and encourages players to view gambling as entertainment rather than income.
Looking ahead, Sycuan is preparing a full slate of promotions for early 2026, including a Lunar New Year celebration in February featuring more than $180,000 in prizes and cash. Planned events include Lucky Red Envelope giveaways, Poker’s Lunar Luck, Bingo’s $888 Cash Drawings, and additional promotions available throughout the year.
For one Lucky Club member, the new year has already delivered its biggest reward — a reminder that sometimes, one extraordinary hand is all it takes to make casino history.
