Lights brighten Santee this weekend

The city of Santee is celebrating its 20th anniversary of holiday festivities with its Santee Holiday Lighting on Nov. 17 from 5:30-8:30 p.m. at Santee Trolley Square, located at 9884 Mission Gorge Road. This family-friendly event has sledding, live music, photos with Santa, games, face painting, and community organizations hosting booths with crafts, activities, and holiday treats.

New this year, the city is offering a “Selfies with Santa” event for those who do not want to wait in line during the Holiday Lighting the next day, Nov. 18, from 4:30-7:30 p.m. at Santee’s Trolley Square.

The evening’s tree lighting ceremony will be held in the amphitheater at 6:15. Throughout
the event, live music is provided by the Bayou Brothers.

“We are proud that Santee Trolley Square will once again be the host location for the City of Santee’s beloved annual holiday tree lighting event,” said Matthew Johnson, regional director of property management for Kimco Realty in a press release. “Each year, this event provides a host of wonderful opportunities for the community to come together for an evening of fun-filled, holiday-themed festivities, something we are honored to play a role in facilitating.”
