The City of La Mesa has started its most extensive slurry seal project to date, aiming to resurface over 40 streets and cover approximately 3.47 million square feet of roadway.
Initial work began this week and includes patching damaged pavement and sealing cracks. According to the city, these early steps are essential for smoothing road surfaces and preparing them for the slurry seal application.
The next phases of the project – applying slurry seal and restriping – will take place throughout the summer and fall. City officials said the project is part of a continued effort to maintain road quality, improve safety and enhance the appearance of local streets.
Residents living in areas scheduled for treatment will be notified in advance. “No parking” signs will be installed 72 hours before slurry work begins. An online interactive map is available for tracking the project’s progress.
The city expects the work to be finished by fall 2025.
