The only “say cheese” heard at the grand opening of Sweet Snap Photography in La Mesa was for appetizers. Owner and photographer, Hillary Lachman, prefers her own methods for coaxing a smile out of a reticent baby or child during a photo shoot.

Lachman, whose quality of work is visible on the studio walls, uses many techniques honed over years to pull that sunny face out and snap a sweet shot of children, maternity, couples and families. Additionally she does professional profile pictures for businessmen and women.

On July 29 Lachman enjoyed the support of her friends and family and the La Mesa Chamber of Commerce members.

Representatives from Sen. Joel Anderson’s office, Assemblyman Brian Jones’ office and Congressman Duncan D. Hunter’ office provided Lachman with Certificates of Recognition to welcome her new business to the La Mesa area.

While Sweet Snap Photography is a new addition, her sister business Stills by Hill which has been around much longer and operates out of the same studio on La Mesa Boulevard.

Lachman sharpened her skills in photography the old fashioned way working at mall studios and even on her website cites the stressed out kids and parents with high pressure sales tactics atmosphere that will not be a part of her repertoire anymore.

What is part of her repertory is more artistic freedom in her background settings and in props she uses. Her Sweet Snap Photography Facebook page displays many photos that point to her artistic side.
