La Mesa Chamber of Commerce and local community supporters are passionate about enriching the lives of military children and making sure they have a happy and memorable holiday. This project began last year with an investment by Jerry Lester, a strong advocate of children.

The Chamber is coordinating this holiday project with Lincoln Military Housing and is collecting toys, diapers and other items for children between the ages of 2 to 13 years old.

The Chamber is proud to announce the following sponsors to date: CityMark Building Services, Jerry Lester, Kappa Surveying & Engineering and Stoney’s Kids Legacy. We are also thrilled to announce the evening sponsor of our toy drive party is BJ’s Restaurant and Brewhouse and EDCO.

“The La Mesa Chamber is honored to be a part of this endeavor and making a difference in the lives of these children and their families who do so much for our country,” stated Mary England, president and CEO.

The Chamber is reaching out to members of the community who may also have a passion for helping children during the holidays and offering an opportunity to join in this worthwhile activity. A celebration and the final collection of toys will take place on Dec. 5 at BJ’s Restaurant and Brewhouse, 5500 Grossmont Center Drive in Grossmont Center between the hours of 5:30 and 7 p.m.

Admission is free for Chamber members bringing an unwrapped toy (receive two wine drink tickets), non-member guests are $10 each, bring an unwrapped toy; $20 each for all “at door” guests.

The evening includes heavy hors d’oeuvres, salads and signature pizzas. Premium wines are sponsored by: Cali Comfort BBQ, The Regal Bar, The Riviera Supper Club and Valley Farm Market. Reservations must be made by Dec. 1 to rsvp@lamesachamber.com.

Those unable to attend the event but who wish to donate may contact the Chamber office to make arrangements to deliver the toys. Lincoln Military Housing facilitates holiday events for over 2,000 military children within our region and we want to ensure our La Mesa military children’s toys are in hand prior to their party.

The deadline to receive all donated toys is Dec. 1. This project allows the La Mesa Chamber of Commerce to continue their quest of making a difference in La Mesa and the lives of those within our community.
