La Mesa artist makes way to La Jolla

Art from La Mesa will be represented alongside work from artists across the country and Mexico when the La Jolla Art & Wine Festival returns Oct. 10-11.

Among the more than 170 juried artists participating will be La Mesa artist, Harper Clark of Kiki Harper Designs, bringing an East County perspective to the festival.

“I’m delighted to be part of the La Jolla Art & Wine Festival again this year. I got my start in this business at the La Jolla Farmers’ Market about six years ago, so returning to La Jolla feels especially meaningful. From my home studio in La Mesa, I create hand-dyed clothing and textiles from natural fibers through my business, Kiki Harper Designs, named in honor of my daughter. This year, I’m excited to share a new collection of home goods alongside my clothing,” Harper said.

The festival will turn Girard Avenue into an open-air art show, with paintings, sculpture, jewelry, photography, ceramics, glasswork and other forms of art on display.

The free event also will include live entertainment, interactive experiences, a silent auction and family-friendly activities.

Adults 21 and older can purchase admission to the Wine & Beer Garden, which will feature wineries, local craft breweries and select spirits. A VIP tasting area is also planned.

The festival is organized by the La Jolla Art & Wine Festival Foundation, a nonprofit that uses proceeds to support local public schools and art programs while promoting La Jolla and its merchants.
