CKO is a franchise with origins in New Jersey and 55 locations nationwide. What distinguishes these workout facilities is their “hands on” approach to fitness, according to branch owner Bonnie Danieli.
CKO functions as a hybrid between a specialty fighting facility and a conventional gym. The structure is conducive to all skill sets. New members benefit from the same workout intensity of a mixed martial arts club without the intimidation. They can go at their own pace, receiving immediate feedback from instructors. Guaranteed is a high motivation, high-energy, music enhanced workout.
The opening of this branch of CKO tells a more compelling story than meets the eye. Bonnie and Brenton Danieli left stable jobs in the corporate sector to open their own branch. CKO was “like a family” to them and assisted them in achieving their dream. Bonnie Danieli attributes kickboxing to changing her life. She picked it up, having no athletic background whatsoever, and lost 40 pounds. Brenton Danieli witnessed her transformation and found the same passion.
The sport has helped alleviate anxiety in their lives and the bad habits spawned by stress. Kickboxing is that outlet and shared passion they wish to pass on. It gives them “a sense of accomplishment” when they finish workouts.
The Danielis are opening their doors on Saturday, June 28. They’re hosting an open house on June 27. It is located at 9802 Magnolia Ave., Unit 6, in Santee at the corner of Mast Boulevard and Magnolia Avenue, across from Santana High School.
The open house will be the last chance to become a charter member and receive discounted member rates good for the lifetime of the membership, as well as free gloves and a T-shirt.
CKO offers four to five classes a day, each an hour long.
“Members can drop in anytime for intense and rewarding workouts that will literally change their lives,” said Bonnie Danieli.
