Home of Guiding Hands announced the opening of Pine House, its first medical home for the nonprofit’s support for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Located in El Cajon, the 2,000 square feet of fully accessible living space will offer enhance independence for clients with complex medical needs.
“All the [resident] families had given up hope that their children would be able to gain this independence and are extremely grateful that we have opened this type of home” stated Rhea Tabler, administrator of Pine House in a press release.
Pine House is equipped to address medical needs such as feeding tubes, colostomy bags, diabetes management and care, breathing treatments, and more. By delivering specialized care within the comforting setting of the Home of Guiding Hands family, Pine House ensures that clients can thrive in an environment that prioritizes both their health and autonomy. With a capacity to accommodate four clients, this house provides the opportunity for individuals to live independently outside of their family homes and serves as an alternative to traditional skilled nursing facilities.
“Three residents are currently set to move into Pine House, with health conditions that limited their ability to move away from home or outside of a nursing facility. The residents and their families are grateful that this type of home has been made available and are excited to experience independent living in a family setting”
