It was a night of “Vintage Vegas” as people from all over San Diego County migrated to the Hotel Del Coronado for the Home of Guiding Hands 40th Annual Gala. With more than 400 people in attendance, the bright lights filled the ballroom as guest dressed in vintage clothing, gambled for charity, enjoyed fine dining and an eclectic assortment of entertainment, accentuated by the extraordinary view of the seashore.

Reliving the Rat Pack era began with silent auctions and hors d’ oeuvres and then the celebration moved into the grand ballroom as guest bid on generous auction items led by Auctioneer Sean Kelly from TruTv’s “Storage Hunters.” People opened up their hearts and pockets to help raise money for the 1,000 infants, adolescents and adults with developmental and intellectual disabilities the HGH serves throughout San Diego County and this year has expanded its reach to Imperial County.

Through the evening, guest were entertained by celebrity impersonators Marilyn Monroe (Emily Marie Gilbert) and Frank Sinatra (Peter Pavone) and the dance floor filled with people dancing to the rhythmic beat of The Mighty Untouchables.

With its beginnings in East County, HGH has built its way from a 14-acre campus in Lakeside to 31 four to six person homes, programs and services throughout San Diego and Imperial Counties. HGH holds high standards in providing a “self-directed life” in its person-to-person directed services that participate in its programs.

Mark Klaus, CEO and president of HGH said this annual fundraiser is the largest of the year and could not be possible without its loyal sponsors, donors, its board members and the “hardworking committee” that pulls the gala together.
