The Boston Bruins saw fit to play local rapper and hockey player Charles Baldwin’s “Living the Dream—Junior Hockey Anthem” rap song in its locker room to get amped before game time. Many hockey players know this music as “Chucky Slick” and Charles Baldwin are one in the same—Slick is Baldwin’s music moniker.

Baldwin recently arrived home from Sweden where he played ice hockey for the Tranas AIF team and is now playing inline hockey at the RSportz Arena for the San Diego Voodoo Elite Team. His immediate future plans include writing more music with his buddies Chiller Dom and J. Lisk this summer.

Numbers do not lie, as “Chucky Slick” has more than 34,000 followers on Twitter and his YouTube videos have thousands of hits. And yet hockey is the other half of Baldwin’s personality. He nailed nine goals in just two games against an inline hockey team from Arizona played at the RSportz Arena on March 29.

Baldwin came back from Sweden with a love for Kebab Pizza and more of a following for his music. Born and raised in East County, Baldwin’s athleticism and artistry blended into one man, an unusual and welcome combination to his followers in hockey and music.

Baldwin weathered setbacks in his hockey career via changing teams and schools at various points but always fought his way back to being on top of the game. Speaking of the game his local Elite team will be fighting to make the playoffs in the American Inline Hockey League.

Baldwin said even some referees know his music and other hockey players know his hockey songs worldwide.

Expect hockey and music hat tricks from Baldwin; he has both in him.
