Dear East County Community, this is what Lakeside Library offers on special programs in February:

We are waiting for your Art & Poetry Festival 2018 entries!!!

Are you an artist or poet? Please be part of this year’s Art & Poetry Festival!Lakeside Library wants to open this contest to include any theme. Artists may submit poems, paintings, drawings, collages and photographs with themes of their own choosing.  We’ll display the art in the library during the months of March and April. Please submit your entries by the end of February!!! Winners will be announced and honored at the Art & Poetry Festival on Friday, April 20th, 6 PM to 8 PM (adults) and Saturday, April 21st—10 AM to 12 PM (children) and 1 PM to 3 PM (teens.) Please contact the library for details of the events. See reverse side for entry form and rules for the contest.

Financial Wellness Wednesdays

Wednesday, February 7th- 4:30 PM: Understanding Credit Reports, Preventing Identity Theft & Scams

Join your SDCCU representative for an informative session on credit reporting. You will also receive tools on correcting inaccuracies in your report and how to avoid identity theft.

Wednesday, February 14th – 4:30 PM: College Financing 101

Join your SDCCU representative for an informative session on the options available for financing college, specifically, savings, vehicles and financial aid.

Wednesday, February 21st – 4:30 PM: First-Time Home Buyers

Buying a home can be one of the biggest purchases that you make in your lifetime, and, one of the most stressful. We are here to help eliminate some of the stress by answering some of your questions. Join your SDCCU representative for an informative session on the home-buying process, including saving for a down payment, getting a mortgage, searching for a home, making an offer and preparing for closing.

Wednesday, February 28th – 4:30 PM: Planning for Money Milestones

We all experience different money milestones throughout our lives whether we are just starting out in managing our finances or planning for retirement. No matter what money milestone you are experiencing, planning for those events are important. Join your SDCCU representative for an informative session that will provide a specific direction to follow, getting you on the right track.

Anabel Kuykendall from Aging & Independence Services has valuable information on how to avoid scams and fraud.

Tuesday, February 13th – 1 PM: Paper Quilling Art with Flores

Have you ever tried paper quilling? It is not too hard, lots of fun, and the results are stunning!

Wednesday, February 14th – 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM – Love Your Heart

It is Valentine’s Day, and how is your heart doing? Free blood pressure measuring at the library.

Saturday, February 17th – 11:00 AM: Chinese New Year Celebration

Come and celebrate the Chinese New Year, learn about Chinese culture and traditions, have refreshments, and enjoy some fun as we welcome the Year of the Dog. For all ages.

Friday, February 23rd – 3:30 PM: Bilingual Storytime and Kids Career Day

Spanish/English stories, songs, rhymes and craft for children 3-11.Also, it's Kids Career Day with Luisa Rodriguez, who teaches Sign Language and Braille.
