“A flat tire and childcare,” said John Valencia, C.E.O. of The Foundation for Grossmont and Cuyamaca Colleges. A program that oversees its Give the Dream program, where students can tap into emergency funds at both campuses.

“A flat tire and childcare,” said John Valencia, C.E.O. of The Foundation for Grossmont and Cuyamaca Colleges. A program that oversees its Give the Dream program, where students can tap into emergency funds at both campuses.

A novel way the Foundation is raising money is producing a music video with student, Jaclyn Marlow.

The public was invited to participate in the video, filmed by videographer Ron Cook of Ron Cook Media, on April 27 at Grossmont Shopping Center.

The film will be presented Saturday, May 10, from 10:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m., at Grossmont College.

Valencia said that the Give the Dream program has provided emergency funds, paid directly to a provider, for students in a pinch needing money for a flat tire, emergency child care, or a myriad of situations that allow the student to keep attending classes in spite of an emergency situation. Such situations might have taken that student out of school for a short or long period of time, he said.

The music video based on a rework of the lyrics from a Black Eye Peas’ song “I Gotta

Feeling,” rewritten by Foundation staff member Laurie Corbin. The new lyrics retitled “I’ve Been Dreaming.”

Valencia said Santa Barbara Community College did a music video very successful in raising money. Hopes are high as well that this music video will do the same.

Sunday’s performers were asked to sing portions of Corbin’s’ remix and form a line that had a foot tapping segment.
