Blanks will be joined by Matadors teammate Dejaney Pope, who helped the team reach the Final Eight in the CIF Division 3 state championships before finally getting eliminated by Santa Barbara, the top seed in the South Region.

Helix, the CIF San Diego Section titlist in Division 2, will not be represented since, oddly, they had no seniors on its ball club.

However, Liberty Charter High, located in Lemon Grove, will participate in the event for the first time.

The Lady Lions claimed the CIF Division 5 crown for the school’s first-ever title. They will be represented by center Savannah Whitehurst and post-forward Katie Collins.

On the boys’ side, East County player of the year T.J. Leaf of Foothills Christian is only a sophomore, but his reservation will be adequately filled.

Top seniors include Brenden Brocious of El Cajon Valley, Zach Kissel, Steele Canyon, and Chase Parsons, West Hills.

The boys’ class is deep with seniors this season, including Jordan Jackson from Grossmont Valley League champion Monte Vista.

Other participants scheduled to appear include:  David Gazale, Valhalla; Andrew Manning, Granite Hills; Ibrahim Ali, El Cajon Valley; and Christian Bell, Helix.

Tickets are available at the door for $7 (adults) and $5 (students).
