Stateregulatorsdidtheright thingby recentlyrejectingSDG&E’sbidtobill itsratepayersfor$379millionincoststiedtoour region’s2007firestorms.Theutility’srequest wasoutrageousandaninsult toall thoseaffectedbythedisaster. Folks diedinthesefiresandmanylosttheir homes.
TherejectionbythestatePublicUtilitiesCommissiondoesnotchangeanyofthat, butbringssomejusticeagainstacompanythat haslongcaredmoreabout shareholderprofits thanpublicsafety.

Anewfirestationiscomingtothewildfire-pronebackcountry.
Constructionisstartingona13,900-square-foot countyfacilityintheheartofPineValley.It will benearlytwiceofthesizeofthecommunity’sexistingenginehouseandisexpectedtobe completedinlate2018.
