California State Senator Joel Anderson successfully led a community coffee town hall event on Thursday, Jun. 23 in Lemon Grove with over 100 of local constituents. Lemon Grove City Councilwoman Racquel Vasquez hosted the event.

California State Senator Joel Anderson successfully led a community coffee town hall event on Thursday, Jun. 23 in Lemon Grove with over 100 of local constituents. Lemon Grove City Councilwoman Racquel Vasquez hosted the event.
The community coffee event was a way for constituents to bring out the issues or concerns in regards to their community as well as a way for them to directly speak with Anderson. Constituents passionately spoke about some of the major issues in Lemon Grove such as public safety, education, and homelessness within their community.
Kikumi Bostwick, a member of the Lemon Grove community, thanked Anderson for holding this event in Lemon Grove and said, "It is extremely helpful and it helps us to see what really is bothering the local community and not just hear it second-hand from some kind of news that may be buttered or changed the story." She continued, "I think it makes an extreme difference because it shows that somebody in the government really cares."
Anderson said, "These community coffees are very important for me because I get the chance to speak with constituents in person and hear directly from them about how we can improve our government. I am thankful for everyone who took time to come join me and for our host Racquel Vasquez."
Lemon Grove constituents actively participated during the dialogue with Anderson contributing to diverse conversations throughout the event. Anderson wished to show gratitude to those who have positively influenced the community during the coffee event by presenting Senate certificates of recognition to Lemon Grove Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) and the Lemon Grove Rotary Club. Lemon VFW was recognized for their 85th birthday as well as their long-lasting commitment to serving local veterans throughout those years. The Lemon Grove Rotary Club was recognized for their outstanding achievements and positive influence to the Lemon Grove community.
