Celebrating the Best of East County 2017 winners

I cannot tell you how thrilled I am with our Best of East County Reader’s Poll celebration coming up next week on Feb. 8. This has been a record year for votes, all have been tallied and the winners, both Gold and Silver have been notified. Being the second year in having a celebration of the winners and our community leaders getting together to hail our 2017 stars, we learned a lot and have a wonderful evening of fun for everyone to enjoy.

Being the second year in having a celebration of the winners and our community leaders getting together to hail our 2017 stars, we learned a lot and have a wonderful evening of fun for everyone to enjoy.

On the same day, our Best of East County will be represented in a special edition in next week’s edition. There are some familiar names and there are some newcomers in the community that made their marks quickly to get the vote. For many businesses and organizations, 2017 was a banner year with the upturn of the economy and they all have a reason to celebrate due to the response from their customers, peers and community that rallied behind them to get to this point.

One thing I look forward to the most in this event is the fact that it represents our East County community as a whole. And all of our communities in our coverage area are represented in the results. Having them all in one place is going to be a phenomenal night. And this event is made for celebration. So don’t look for long speeches and prolonged awards presentations. Our say in the event is kept to a minimum in order to give the community a chance to be together and have a great time. I guarantee you that you will meet new people, spend time with old friends, make new ones and most of all—have fun.

I’ve sent out some special invitations to many of our community leaders, and if you have heard from me, please, if you can, make the time to RSVP and come and join us. So far the response has been really great and I am expecting to see many more this coming week as the event comes closer. Just from last year’s experience I saw how much it meant to the winners to see their local politicians, chambers and community leaders join them and congratulate them on a job well done and deserved.

If you are a winner, congratulations and please take the time and come out and celebrate the East County community with us. This event is all about you, your work, integrity, leadership, involvement in the community and everything that you do to make your part of East County as great as it can be. For many, it will be the first time that we will have the chance to meet you and I am a firm believer that there is a story behind every person you meet. All you have to do is spend some time and listen, and you will find it.

Bottom line, we are having a party to celebrate your recognition and that is exactly what we are planning. So join us. Have fun. Get to know us a little better and give us the chance to know who you are. And as I said before, I expect our community leaders that have heard from me to step it up and let us know that you are coming. I realize there are some conflicting schedules, but there is no reason that every community cannot be represented by some of their local officials (your constituents) and our other community leaders.

Let’s all represent our winners with style. This is a great kick-off to 2018. Hopefully it will bring the bigger and better in our East County community with the people that make it a better place to live, work and play.
