The El Cajon Valley High School football team will not go winless this season. The Braves took care of that after hanging a 42-0 defeat on the visiting Orange Glen Patriots last Friday in non-league play.
El Cajon Valley entered the game having been outscored 120-12 in a 0-3 start.
But the Braves put that behind themselves early against the Patriots (0-4).
Sophomore T.J. Ibrahimi passed for 297 yards with five touchdowns and one interception to lead the rout. Senior Amir Miller had four catches for 150 yards and two touchdowns while three players each collected one TD: seniors Rashaunn Barr (one catch, 60 yards), Janvier Kashindi (four catches, 55 yards) and Gavino Kendall-Pinal (one catch, 36 yards).
The hosts recorded the shutout on the strength of three sacks by senior Angel Perez and two interceptions by sophomore Joseph Uwajeh (one returned for a touchdown). Senior Jonathan Gonzalez paced the team with nine tackles.
The Braves (1-3) will now look to make it two wins in a row when they travel to Castle Park (1-3) for a non-league game this Friday.
Foothills 25, Hamilton 20
The Knights improved to 2-2 with the road win. Senior David Stewart rushed for 228 yards and two touchdowns while junior quarterback Hayden Oleson passed for 79 yards and one TD to sophomore Isaac Maisonet (six catches, 43 yards). Sophomore Liam Dailey had one catch for 45 yards.
Foothills made four fumble recoveries on defense, including one by sophomore Cahill Martinez for a touchdown.
