A pair of forfeit losses haven’t slowed down the Valhalla High School football team. The Norsemen appeared to face off the 2026 high school football season with a 3-0 perfect record following non-league victories over San Jacinto Valley Academy (75-0 on Aug. 21) and Castle Park (66-0 on Sept. 4).
But those two lopsided wins were later overturned when it was learned the team had used an ineligible player in the lineup.
The Norsemen returned to the field on Sept. 11 with a 0-2 record and promptly extended it to 1-2 with a 50-6 win over visiting Mar Vista and evened its record at 2-2 following last Friday’s 49-0 non-league victory at Kearny.
It’s obvious one player does not make the team.
Valhalla had outscored it opening two opponents 141-0. In its latest two wins, the Norsemen have racked up a 105-6 scoring differential.
Not much has changed.
Junior Adrian Wilson passed for 129 yards and two touchdowns while rushing on 38 yards and one additional score to lead the Norsemen to their latest victory.
Valhalla scored five rushing touchdowns and two passing touchdowns in the win.
Senior Jayden Hunter carried the ball seven tiems for 47 yards and two touchdowns while sophomore Camryn Conley (six carries, 34 yards) and freshman Deven Segovia (five carries, 24 yards) each scored one touchdown. The visitors rushed for 143 yards and compiled 272 total yards.
Conley had five catches for 92 yards with two touchdowns while freshman A.J. Wright had one catch for 37 yards.
Wilson logged 167 total yards while Conley compiled 129 total yards.
Sophomore Gideon Hypes led the visitors with 17 tackles, including 13 first hits while freshman Branden Westry Jones and junior Amar’e Young contributed 13 apiece. Westry Jones had 10 first hits while Young had eight first hits. Senior James Shelton had 12 defensive stops, including nine first hits.
The Norsemen collected three sacks, two by senior Isaiah Steiner and one by freshman Jordan Codere. The East County visitors also collected four fumble recoveries — one each by Wright, Young, Hypes and junior Alejandro Nol.
Conley scored three touchdowns in the game — two receiving and one rushing.
Young scored on a five-yard fumble return.
The Norsemen take their high scoring act on the road this Friday at St. Pius-St. Mattihas Academy in Downey before kicking off Grossmont Valley League play with a home game Oct. 2 against Monte Vista and a road game Oct. 9 at El Cajon Valley. Valhalla host Santana on Oct. 16 as league play continues.
Monte Vista (2-2) hosts undefeated Christian (4-0) this Friday. El Cajon Valley (2-2) is riding a two-game winning streak while Santana enters Friday’s non-league encounter against visiting Fallbrook (3-2) with an undefeated 4-0 record.
