A man was arrested June 28 for setting a trashcan on fire near the Walmart at 170 Town Center Parkway.
Deputies and Santee Fire personnel responded around 6:30 p.m. following reports of a fire outside the store.
A witness called dispatch to report seeing a man ignite the trash can’s contents in the Walmart parking lot.
Officers detained 30-year-old Ryan Crist at the scene. Firefighters quickly extinguished the blaze, which caused only minor damage to the trashcan.
Witnesses positively identified Crist as the suspect. He was arrested on suspicion of arson and booked into San Diego Central Jail.
