Plans to celebrate three decades of market

The La Mesa Village Association announced that September 2023 marks the 30th Anniversary of the La Mesa Village Farmers Market in downtown La Mesa. In celebration, the LMVFM will begin to host weekly giveaways starting Sept. 1.

Weekly prizes will be given away on the LMVFM Instagram page @officiallamesafarmersmarket, 30th Anniversary canvas shopping bags will be given out by different vendors each week, free 30th Anniversary stickers will be available at the LMVFM information booth, and a surprise vendor-filled 30th Anniversary shopping bag will be given away on the LMVFM Instagram page.

The LMVA took over the market in 2018 and moved it to the heart of the Village along La Mesa Boulevard. The LMVA partnered with a new management team, Shane and Robyn Guy to reinvigorate the market and after the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Our partnership with Shane and Robyn has been a great endeavor. Together, we have created what I believe to be the best Farmers Market in San Diego County. Just look at the number of shoppers, their smiling faces, and the positive energy you can feel throughout the market,” said Michelle Huey, LMVA Board of Director member and Farmers Market Committee chair in a press release.

Shane and Roby Guy transformed the farmers market over the past year into a “thriving outdoor grocery store” with locally grown produce, flowers, nuts, locally raised meats, eggs, honey, homemade grocery items, prepared foods, and handmade gifts. The LMVFM has more than 80 vendors, a dedicated food court, two dining areas, and live music.

“We are so happy to offer the La Mesa community such a renovated and vibrant market place, with newly added vendors, a beautiful Village setting and free parking. We are truly your one stop shop to enjoy a true Farm-to-Table experience,” said Shane Ray, La Mesa Village Farmers Market manager.

The La Mesa Village Farmers Market is open every Friday from 3 – 7:30 p.m. from May 1 through Sept. 30, and 3 – 7 p.m. from Oct. 1 through April 30. It is located on La Mesa Blvd. between 4th Street and Palm Avenue. Free parking is available at the Civic Center parking lot at Allison Avenue and Date Street.
