Becoming a successful counselor has been a challenging journey for newly published author Josee D’Amore, who opened her own office in La Mesa last year.
Her path has been, and still is, rewarding, even with the sticks and stones that have turned up whenever she faced the challenge of forgiving others.

Her path has been, and still is, rewarding, even with the sticks and stones that have turned up whenever she faced the challenge of forgiving others.
She has written about her own struggle and eventual victory in “The Soul’s Fight: Wrestling with Forgiveness,” which was released earlier this year.
D’Amore has also begun forming a ministry. Within just five months of the book’s publication, she has already had four speaking engagements, including a retreat, a women’s group, and two classes at Steele Canyon High School. She will be soon speaking at Los Colinas Jail as well.
She also plans to bring the ministry global through Women’s Information Network. Bobbye Brooks and Tonilee Adamson, co-owners of Media4Women, have been newly appointed officers of WIN.
WIN is the fastest growing international network for women across the globe.
“The opportunities are endless,” D’Amore said.
What exactly is the appeal of the book and, more specifically, the topic, can be found in the way people respond to it. Recently, D’Amore held “The Soul’s Fight, Freedom Campaign Fundraiser” at Marechario’s Restaurant on Olde Highway 8 near Lake Jennings. The event included raffles, silent auction, door prize and dessert.
“We celebrated the fact that I have nearly sold out of books. I initially ordered 250 books, and now there is only a small amount of books left. I will be placing an order of more books soon,” said D’Amore.
At the event, both Brooks and Adamson spoke and encouraged everyone to join D’Amore’s ministry team.
“They have been my incredible mentors throughout this process and I value and treasure them deeply,” D’Amore said.
According to D’Amore, building a team of support is also crucial to finding the path to forgiveness. It can be a long and lonely road. Without someone to help navigate over the cobblestones and deciphering the signposts along the way, many people never reach that goal of forgiveness, she said.
