“Love it,” says small business owner, Teri Favro, of Home & Soul on El Cajon’s Main Street about the third annual Shop Small Business Saturday, celebrated Nov.  24 across America.

“You get to see people you haven’t seen in awhile” said Favro, who also offered a 25 percent discount to those shoppers who participated. Favro had the posters up on her front windows that signaled to the sidewalk traffic she was participating in this American Express created campaign.

Favro, who has been in business for 12 years on Main Street added:
“Last year so many people came in all day.”
Weekends for some Main Street businesses can mean less business due to the courthouse being closed on Saturday and Sunday.

Down the street from Home & Soul is Peggy Harris’s Glamour Girlz Boutique, who had a customer, Barbara, come in strictly to take advantage of 25 percent discount offered on Shop Small Business Saturday.
Harris sees the day as an “Excellent opportunity for the residents of El Cajon to get to know what is available on Main Street El Cajon.”

Harris also pointed out the art gallery inside her store, Main Street 5 Gallery owned by Esther Beish, that has rotating art shows.

Small business owners go up against the “big guns” around Black Friday and to have a day that emphasizes buying at a small business can explain why Favro does “Love it.”
