Dear East County Community, summer reading is over but Lakeside Library continues offering great programs for all ages. Here is what’s coming up in September:

For Kids

Kids in Action Storytime – Mondays 10:30 a.m.

Preschool Play – Tuesdays 10:30 a.m.

Baby Storytime – Wednesdays 11:30 a.m.

Preschool Storytime – Thursdays 10:30 a.m.

Toddler Storytime Fridays – 10:30 a.m.

Spanish/English Bilingual Storytime – Fridays 3:30 p.m.

Saturday, Aug. 5 – 3 p.m.: Turkish Belly Dance with Dilek Koskal

Dilek is a professional belly dancer in San Diego, Los Angeles and Orange County with her authentic Egyptian and Turkish styles.

For Kids

Wednesday, July 5 – 3:00 p.m.- Stuffed Animal Sleepover

Bring your favorite stuffed buddy to meet and greet our stuffed friends. Hear stories, do a craft, and have a snack with your buddy. Most of all have fun! Your stuffed friend will spend the night at the library and when you come to pick up your stuffed friend the next day, see what kind of trouble they were up to.

It is Summer Reading Time again. This year's theme is Reading by Design". Signing up is easy via paper or online. Read 10 books or 10 hours and get a prize... Here is what Lakeside library offers just in the month of June.

Friday, June 9 - 6:00 p.m.- Teen Summer Reading Lock-in at Lakeside Library

Monday, May 1st –Monday 15th: Tree of Life Art Exhibit

Mona Mills has assembled a group exhibit of artwork that ranges from silk painting to naïve art to graphics to photography to fine detail visionary oils. The joyful words of the spiritual song, "Oh, the wonder of it all", sum up the growth of the "Tree of Life", which represents all generations, all mankind, and the natural process of aging. From May first through May 15.

Saturday, May 6 – 1 p.m.: The 10-minute medical appointment

Come Listen to How Jackrabbit Got His Very Long Ears, a southwestern story. Come to listen to a story and make a special craft. Perfect attendance prizes will be awarded, snacks will be provided at each meeting. Program is for kids in grades K-2. This program is in partnership with the Barona Cultural Center and Museum

Saturday, Feb. 4 – 10:00 a.m. – Essential Oil Class with DIY

Country Living: Make soaps, lotions and ointments from herbal ingredients in essential oils. Presented by Labor of Love Lakeside's Community Garden.

Monday, Feb. 6th – 3:30 p.m. – Monday Movie Matinee Special Event

Financial Wellness Wednesdays: Get a fresh start in 2017. Experts from SDCCU will educate on some central financial issues on Wednesday mornings this month:  

1-4-17 – Ten simple steps toward financial success

Dear Lakeside Community, come join us for Halloween fun on October 31st. ALL DAY: Costume contest and Halloween Challenge. Come in your costume, and take a picture at our photo booth. The Lakeside Friends of the Library have gift cards for the first 3 winners. Find the all the Jack o Lantern’s hidden throughout the library, and get a treat. 3:30 p.m. – Halloween Cake Walk; 4:00 p.m. Monday Movie Matinee – with a (moderately/PG rated) SCARY MOVIE.

Dear East County families, is it Fall again? We are happy to offering two concerts this month at Lakeside Library, introducing you to the Lakeside’s River Park Conservancy, inviting you to a chat with the Sheriff, giving information on how to best grow your winter crops organically and providing lots of Halloween fun!
