Santee’s 6048 Girl Scout Troop will be receiving their Silver Awards, the highest honor a cadette can fulfill. It takes a rigorous process of about three years of hard work in their communities for a girl scout troop to be able to attain this. 

With these awaited past three years almost completed, the Silver Award ceremony will be held on June of next year.  Sherrie Peregud, the 6048 Girl Scout Troop leader and supervisor has been working with the girls during this long process.

In 1997, former Lemon Grove Mayor Mary Sessom found inspiration in a small town that would later become a loved tradition. Miranda Evans, employee at the City Manager’s office told how Lemon Grove’s annual Bonfire was first initiated by Sessom.

“She saw how it brought the community together and was inspired to bring something like that to Lemon Grove,” said Evans. “Ever since then 20 years ago, it’s the been a tradition.”

The Friends of the El Cajon Library, a non-profit organization of volunteers dedicated to raising funds and improving the local library, held its annual Holiday Fundraiser on Nov. 3.

This event is held at the El Cajon Library where people from the community gather for a silent and live auction, food and a delightful time with friends and neighbors.
