California State Sen. Joel Anderson honored Senior Helpers East/North County (Senior Helpers) on January 19 with a Certificate of Recognition for its outstanding service to the Santee community and beyond. Santee Health Awareness Month, Santee Health, originally started by the California Health Network to spread the knowledge and awareness of the importance of a healthy lifestyle throughout the community.

Heidi Klastow, home care specialist and owner of Senior Helpers, said that the organization provides, “a full range of services from driving clients who maybe no longer have driver’s licenses to doctor’s appointments, all the way to working alongside hospice.” Senior Helpers provides more than just care, and is dedicated to providing comfort and companionship.

The goal of Senior Helpers is to say yes to help anyone, according to Heidi and Chetta Levell, the community relations coordinator. They work with whatever budget people have, and strive to work with as many people as possible regardless of one’s financial situation. Senior Helpers provides services to seniors from all over the San Diego County from downtown to Julian.

Klastow and Levell both are experienced caretakers who took care of their own families. These valuable experiences inspired them to become caretakers for others and their passion for creating a familial relationship with clients and to dedicate themselves to the comfort and care of others. Klastow said they have “been so touched by many of the families we’ve helped and we continue to strive to help more and more families that we can reach out to and be a part of their lives.”
