At the California Special Districts Association (CSDA) Awards Luncheon, on Wednesday, Oct. 12, State Senator Joel Anderson personally presented Padre Dam Municipal Water District with the prestigious “District of Distinction Accreditation” award on behalf of the CSDA.
Every year, the CSDA holds this awards luncheon to honor the leadership of special districts. Special districts are a form of local government, with an elected board, who provide a specific service in the community. The District of Distinction Accreditation is given to special districts that exhibit appropriate fiscal management and practices needed to maintain a special district.
Padre Dam Municipal Water District (PDMWD) was founded in 1955 and now serves 100,000 customers in San Diego. The PDMWD provides customers with clean water, recreational facilities and wastewater management in a cost-efficient manner. Each day, at their Water Recycling Facility, they treat two million gallons of water that is completely imported. In the past, PDMWD received awards for “Excellence in Capital Budgeting”, “Project/District of the Year”, and “Transparency Certificate of Excellence,” which carries the underlying theme of cost efficient development and orderly conduct.
Anderson said, “I am proud of our local water district for showing its commitment to serving the community and staying true to their mission of providing quality water in a cost effective manner. It is a great accomplishment to be recognized statewide. I am thankful for their unyielding dedication to improving the lives of the constituents.”
