At least 4 candidates have

At least 4 candidates have voiced strong support for reopening the theater and have attended ECPAC Foundation meetings. Do your homework. As for why there has been no gala, the Foundation can't fundraiser until it has a commitment with the City, but the City has refused to accept the Foundation's proposal.

The City is ALREADY paying for maintenance on the building even though it is closed. These are very substantial for electricity in particular. Reopening would allow some revenue to offset those expenses. The one significant thing the Foundation hopes for is that the city would repair the leaking roof. This is City property and the City should have done that long ago instead of spending millions of dollars upgrading a duck pond and remodeling the park across the street.

Clearly some new leadership is needed in El Cajon!
