Community forum with Sen. Joel Anderson
SPECIAL TO THE EAST COUNTY CALIFORNIAN
Sen. Joel Anderson invited the public to attend a Community Coffee May 28. Hosted by Santee Mayor Voepel, this event was a chance for community members to share their opinions directly with Anderson. More than 120 people gathered at the Santee City Hall to discuss various state and local issues with Anderson including the California drought, the state budget, education, and current legislative items that were important to them and their families.
Anderson said it is important to receive the community’s input at events like this.
“I want to thank all of you who took the time to attend this community coffee because you are helping me make government work for you,” he said. “The purpose of my office is to improve the lives of my constituents. Whether it’s providing assistance to solve a problem with a state agency, or listening to your ideas to improve state government, I am here to serve you.”
The Community Coffee was also a chance for some constituents to acknowledge Anderson’s work.
“You have not backed down, you’ve held feet to the fire, you’ve been the only one who stood up for us [parents] consistently, and you’ve been transparent. It means so much. So thank you,” said a constituent named Heather about Anderson’s advocacy for parental rights.
